TreasuryDirect - What's in a Name?

What's in a name? A whole lot when the name is TreasuryDirect. Once just the name of an account system for Treasury bills, notes and bonds (marketable securities), TreasuryDirect has become the signature brand under which Treasury will offer a full array of information, products and services to its customers. In addition to Investment Services for Treasury Bills, Notes and Bonds (what was the original TreasuryDirect), a separate account system offering the new "paperless" I Bonds is now available under the TreasuryDirect umbrella. Eventually, more products will be added and the old and new TreasuryDirects will be combined, providing customers with the opportunity to hold a mixture of marketable and savings products in a single self-managed account.
