Bond Pro -- It's Time for a Change!
We're in the process of upgrading our most popular savings bond pricing tool, BondPro. Previous versions of BondPro focused strictly on redeeming savings bonds.
Version 3 will enable the tellers to create files for issuing savings bonds. Tellers will be able to enter information that's requested on today's RDS application directly into BondPro. At the end of the day, you'll be able to request that BondPro generate the RDS file for Fedline. This feature should eliminate duplication of effort in completing an application for your customer and keying the same information into Fedline. Of course, this enhancement will only benefit those financial institutions that use Fedline or Fedline for the Web.
Version 3 also will be enhanced to assist you in redeeming bonds. It will be able to read Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) line information (series, denomination and serial number) found on the bottom of most bonds by interacting with a MICR reader. Once captured, you'll enter the issue date for that bond. This process continues until all bonds are entered. This feature will save time in entering information when large amounts of bonds are being processed. Financial institutions without MICR readers will be able to use BondPro as usual to redeem bonds.
These enhancements will give you the ability to handle issues and redemptions using one tool - BondPro, Version 3 - thereby streamlining your operations. Version 3 will be released in the first quarter of 2003. Agents already using BondPro, as well as agents already processing RDS applications, will be sent Version 3 as soon as it's released.
